First book launched online

Yesterday, the American writer Suzanne Collins brought to Spain the first book launched online. RBA’s editorial organized rooms to bring together attendees who discussed over the book through Internet with the author herself.

Over 100 weeks in the bestseller list of The New York Times has been the main reason why the Spanish publisher has chosen this “Sinsajo”, third book in the series “The Hunger Games”, for the new release.

The presentation also had time to speak about the first two parts of the serie, “The Hunger Games” and “In Flames”, while the third focused comments to the expectations of followers.

With rave reviews by authors of the same gender and some controversy for its subject matter something violent, “Sinsajo” can be buying from today and has been the first book with a launch over the Internet and 2.0 in Spain.

Spanish comics for kids

The literature has a variety of genres and one of the funniest is comic. The characters of Spanish comics may not reach the media height of American comic book heroes, but they are emblematic Spanish comics.

To begin with, although in Spain the word also used is ‘comic’, most classic way to named it is ‘tebeo’. From the 50s to the 80s were the best time for comics and where rescue the most representative of children’s comics: Mort and Phil, and Zipi and Zape.

The comics of these two couples are the most translated Spanish comics.

The brothers Zipi and Zape are twins, and they are distinguished by the color of hair. Their stories revolve around the constant pranks. They both love football, but Real Madrid is Zipi’s team and FC Barcelona is Zape’s team. The names of the characters come from the word zipizape, which means “albotoro” / “disturbance”.

Mortadelo and Filemón work in a detective agency. Filemon is the chief and his only employee is Mortadelo. As detectives they are a disaster, and their cases always end in failure. Another of the peculiarities of these comic is that Mortadelo, quite silly and joking, often disguises to try to resolve their investigations.

Borges’ books in bars

The Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires have had an interesting idea. Through the program named ‘I read in the bar’, libraries with Jorge Luis Borges‘ complete bibliography has been installed in 15 bars in the city. Bars in Argentina are considered symbols of culture and history of the place.

The intention is to spread the reading habit, for which anytime and anywhere is a good moment, so citizens have valued this unconventional initiative of the Ministry of Culture as a good one. In fact, although unusual today, bars were just a traditional place of culture in the past.

Jorge Luis Borges is one of the most prominent argentine writer of the twentieth century. During his 86 years of life he had a prolific literary creation in which you can find essays, poems, mostly short stories.
Its most emblematic works are summarized in Ficciones (1944), El Aleph (1949), El evangelio según San Marcos (1970) or La memoria de Shakespeare (1983), one of his last works.
